CaribOx Showcase 2026

Our annual research Showcase provided the opportunity to meet the 2026 CaribOx Fellows and Travel Grant holders and celebrate Caribbean scholarship.

This years visitors through the CaribOx Visiting Fellowships and Travel Grant schemes are: 

📚 Dr Isar Godreau from the University of Puerto Rico, an anthropologist developing guidance for publishers to ensure that in the future primary school children in Puerto Rico learn about their ancestry with narratives and images that promote Afro-dignity 

🦋 Dr Pierre Michard Beaujour from the Caribea Initiative, an entomologist developing new taxonomies to support biodiversity conservation in Haiti

🏰 Dr Tara Inniss, from The University of the West Indies, a historian and heritage expert reviewing archives at the University of Oxford and in historic houses in the UK, uncovering new insights into colonial histories and demonstrating the necessity for equitable sharing of historical materials and data held in the UK to deepen understanding of Caribbean history

🌍 Dr Shenika McFarlane-Morris from the University of the West Indies, Mona, a geographer developing a comparative study of attitudes towards climate change among secondary school pupils in Jamaica and the UK

Their work illustrates the richness of Caribbean research and the importance of collaboration across disciplines, countries, and communities.
